WASHINGTON, DC – February 15, 2019 – Thinking of You Week is an international movement that encourages sending a card a day for one week at the end of September. The event celebrates the energy and creativity of paper lovers everywhere – with the support of greeting card publishers, crafters, card and gift retailers, and the US Postal Service (who created a Thinking of You postmark for first class letters that reached over a half million homes in September of 2018).
In this community spirit, the Greeting Card Association, which helps to organize and promote the event, launched an open design contest for the 2019 logo. The GCA is excited to announce that the winner of the 2019 Thinking of You Week design contest is Elizabeth Silver, a Freelance Artist and Surface Pattern Designer from Apex, North Carolina. A former print stylist for GAP, Inc., Elizabeth is a freelance designer of stationery, home textiles, apparel prints, plus graphics and licensed artwork for gifts and greeting cards.

The prize for winning includes 100 greeting cards from multiple GCA member publishers, and a $250 art supply gift card donated by BLICK Art Materials. Her design will be featured on social media (on Instagram @thinkingofyouweek) and on the website www.thinkingofyouweekusa.com. It will also be featured on promotional postcards shared within the greeting card industry and on signage at this year’s Noted Expo being held in Brooklyn.
About the selection process: entries from across the country were reviewed by the 12-person LOUIE Award panel tasked with picking the best of the best greeting cards for the year. Winners of the LOUIE Awards will be announced in May at the Noted Expo in Brooklyn. For both the cards and the artwork for Thinking of You Week the judges narrowed down the field and voted on the final winner at a live session held during the NYNOW gift show held in early February.
The Greeting Card Association wishes to thank all of the artists who submitted their thoughtful design ideas and to congratulate Elizabeth Silver on her winning entry. Thinking of You Week will be held September 23 – 29, 2019.
