The mission of Send A Smile Today™ is to let cancer patients know they are never alone by regularly mailing uplifting greeting cards: from time of cancer diagnosis – through treatment – to survivorship. Cards are mailed monthly to ANYONE of ANY age with ANY TYPE of cancer in the United States and are meant to provide hope, love and support. The monthly card subscription service is FREE thanks to many donors who contribute to the organization.
According to the American Cancer Society, in 2019 there will be an estimated 1.7M new cancer cases in the United States. Some charitable organizations raise money for cancer research while others provide cancer screenings, trips to treatment, and wigs. Send A Smile Today™ is different because their sole purpose is to provide hope, love, and support to those going through cancer treatment.
Send A Smile Today™ receives donations of handmade cards, store bought cards, blank envelopes, and Forever stamps as well as monetary donations. Cards are made by individuals, scrapbook enthusiasts, school groups, Girls Scouts, Boys Scouts, college clubs and sororities, corporations, religious organizations and those simply wanting to give back to the cancer community. Not only do the cards provide encouragement to the card recipients but they provide empowerment and fulfillment to those making the cards – as they know they are making a difference in the lives of those with cancer.
To date, Send A Smile Today™ has mailed over 6,000 uplifting greeting cards to nearly 800 cancer patients in 49 states. The only remaining state is Wyoming. For additional information or to get involved please email:
