Just in case you need a big dose of inspiration to send a card to brighten someone’s day, meet Muriel! She is 98 years-young and is quarantined at a medical facility in a nursing home in Pennsylvania.
She sent her daughter Barbara a card with this original poem she named “Ode to a Virus” about what she is experiencing amidst the corona virus. It is full of levity and hope.
Please note her pen name. She is completely isolated from her family and yet she is able to go forth with humor and creativity.

Barbara says Muriel reads everyday. Let’s send her more to read! How about we write her a poem and send it to her in a card? Or maybe we send her a card with a positive note. Muriel turns 99 on April 26th! How about an early birthday card? Maybe send another card to a “friend of Muriel” so she can share the love.

This is what we do as connectors. We reach out. We soothe. We hug through words, art and paper.
Are you in? We hope so! Here is her address:

We know the days lately are long and uncertain but just visualize Muriel in her hospital bed smiling and laughing in a sea of love and birthday cards from complete strangers.
